John Hare 1909 – 1978 Coastal New England Painter of portraits, landscapes and marine scenes Considered the “Dean” of Cape Cod artists. Masterful in both oil and watercolor painting, his use of color is subtle but extremely effective. In Chatham in 1971 he said, “Though I miss much of the colorful atmosphere and some of the things that have disappeared since 1938, there are still some very good subjects left to paint.”
